There are three levels of governments in India.

At the top is the central government , which takes care of national issues.

In the middle is the state government , which looks after the regional affairs.  This level of government is known by different names in different countries.  Some countries call it a provincial government.

At the bottom, there are panchayats and municipal bodies , which address local issues.
