British Film Institute is a charitable organization which is considered as the leading organization for film-making and moving images in the United Kingdom. It was established with the aim of supporting creativity and to educate the people about film making and moving images through programmes and festivals delivered both online and offline. British Film Institute aims to care for the BFI National Archive, which is considered as the largest film and television archive of the world. It was established in 1933 and was granted the Royal Charter in 1983. The BFI National Archive was earlier known as the National Film Library from 1935 to 1955, National Film Archive from 1955 to 1992 and National Film and Television Archive from 1993 to 2006. Also, the BFI Vision Awards offers financial support to all the filmmakers of the United Kingdom for increasing and strengthening their development slates. The BFI Reuben Library offers a vast collection of books, journals and materials related to the world of film and television industry, and moving images. The library is accessible to everyone free of charge. The library has a reading room known as the Edwin Fox Foundation Reading Room which can be accessed by anyone starting from BFI Southbank cinema goers to researchers.
