The course focuses on the community context of promoting public health. You will learn about the various definitions of 'community' and understand the structure and characteristics of different types of communities.

A 'one-size-fits-all' approach to interventions is ineffective, so the Community Change in Public Health certification course emphasises the importance of identifying community capacities and resources for improvement. The need for community participation in designing, implementing and evaluating interventions is recognised as crucial for sustainable impact.
