I m in class 11 and i want to crack JEE...So how can i prepare myself to take the admission in IIT.

Niharika Moturu 5th Jan, 2019

Hello Alok..

Thanks for contacting Careers360..

I gave my Jee Mains in 2017 although i did not get that good marks , to get into some NIT , I will like to share the problems I faced , mistakes I made.

The coaching institute I joined was following the syllabus in it’s own order. When I was studying inorganic chemistry in school they were teaching us organic chemistry ,when school started with organic they started with inorganic. Due to mismatch in order of teaching the subject ,I was not able to manage both school and coaching.

I did not analyze the current trends , question paper and weightage of each chapters in the subject, even the coaching institute did not plan it properly. Physics teacher was very slow in their teaching , the whole time they were focused on pulley ,rotational mechanics ,but when I gave mains exam ,most of the questions came from thermodynamics , solid mechanics , basically our CBSE 11th physics part 2.

I should have given much more time for the preparation , this was the time I started binge watching TV series ,it was also a factor in getting less marks.

Now what should you do to prepare for JEE Mains 2020. Assuming you will start your preparation from month of July and you are a General Category student.

To get a decent NIT with decent branch ,you must get more than 220 marks ( I am assuming the test is of 360 marks). Everyone wants to get high rank , but let us be realistic . The toppers of JEE Main ,they are usually people who have topped in science olympiad , KVPY in there school days , basically their preparation starts from 7th std itself.

Leave your coaching classes , the only good thing about coaching classes is the material they provide, you can buy those material online ( I am assuming you are not in Kota ,because they are on whole other level ,you can join those institute). Coaching institute will only increase pressure on you ,confuse you, because even 12th std marks are important in JEE Mains(I have assumed the system has not been changed) , you cannot ignore that fact.

Now you don’t go to coaching institute ,you will have lot of time for preparation. There is not much time left for preparation , hard work will not be enough for preparation ,now the time is to start the smart work.

Check the latest trend for 2020, see if there is any change,Check previous year question paper and find out weightage of each chapter. Start with the one with highest weightage. Study the concepts of the particular chapter you are seeing using reference books ,coaching material. Once you study a concept solve problems from that concept. Make sure you are confident about those concepts. Once you are done with that chapter , Solve the problem atleast 50 problems from that chapter at whole.

Make a proper time table according to your timings , if you are a morning person , get up early and study your favourite subject among PCM ,if you are a night person , do according with that. Please do not get disheartened if you are not able to follow your time table properly , try again.

If you are stuck somewhere ,use internet to solve your problem , can also email a professor ,if you face any doubt.

This is the time you cannot afford to waste, stop watching tv, or a series on internet , any type of indoor entertainment , stop thinking about your crush or searching internet on how to get out of friendzone( This is much tougher than cracking JEE Mains ). But please do physical activity for some hours . This will keep you energetic and improve your concentration

Discuss questions and concept with your friends , even teach them concepts ,this will make you realize how good your concepts are.

Use last 2 months to just revise your concepts and solve previous year question papers , solve as many papers as you can.

All the best . Hope you crack JEE Mains with good marks. Don’t lose hope.

Sir,plz tell me that how can prepare more n more to crack neet in remaining 4 months ..

Nivedita Sharma 5th Jan, 2019

hey Pooja
NEET is an exam of determination & smart study so the time you have now is precious & an important determinant of your selection
don't get nervous or stress too much making studying a fun learning experience

to crack neet learn to set up a score goal and work accordingly

coming to subject wise preparation

PHYSICS : do physics in the morning as it is the best time for concept building & understanding
Mechanics should be very strong which includes force, work energy power & motion of sysytem of particles & rigid bodies)
thermodynamics , oscillations & waves have a lot of weightage
class 12th - Modern physics, electronic devices, Optics, Electrostatics, AC

remember every pcb student would consider biology as their strongest subject so it is important for you to do well in physics because this subject is like a gateway to your selection in NEET,

Chemistry -
class 11th - chemical bonding , equilibrium & thermodynamics are very important topics
class 12th - organic chemistry is of maximum weightage in NEET hence play special emphasis
inorganic chemistry to be done from ncert only
physical chemistry solve numericals from packages to learn to attempt a question quickly
this subject stabilises your rank & is a scoring section.

biology - maximum questions are asked from biology (90 questions which are either from botany or zoology) each & every line & word from ncert have to be studied because anything can be asked
class 11th - Animal physiology has the maximum weightage of marks
Diversity  of living oragnism, cell, plant physiology
class 12th - genetics & evolution, biology & human welfare, reproduction and the comes ecology and other units
biology is scoring but maximum negative marking happens in this section because people don't read the questions properly so make sure you avoid that solve lot of mcq question from either aakash packages or allen material
before two months of the exam it is important to practice mock test papers to assess your performance
make charts & tables to memorise things, pin it up & go through it everyday so that you don't forget

do less topics in a day but do them properly . do not study for this exam under any burdern of expectations give this exam for yourself & the beautiful future you have. the happiness of wearing a white coat is inexplainable and that is only possible when you invest smartly for a difficult exam like this
all the very best to you

How can we study right now to crack neet in remaining days??

Mayank Kukreti 4th Jan, 2019
Hii Pooja
To crack neet exam is to have a proper schedule so to get success in any exam, you need to have a proper schedule to follow so here are some points which should be followed during preparation-
1) divide your day into 4 halfs and each half should be of 3 hours atleast, first half for physics, second half for biology, third half for chemistry and fourth half should be for solving objectives
2) always study physics in the morning as you will be fresh in the morning so it will be easy for you to concentrate on it.As you know that every medical aspirant find it difficult so make sure you make it a plus point for you.
3) your main focus should remain on NCERT textbook as most of the questions are asked from it so make sure you go through your NCERT textbooks thoroughly as it will help you to build your basics strong
4) opt any one reference book for each subject for solving objectives like for physics you can opt universal publication,dc Pandey,Allen module, for biology you can opt trueman of biology,MTG,Allen module, Pradeep publication, for chemistry you can opt Dinesh objective,op Tandon,Allen module,ABC publication.Don't try to opt too many reference book as it will only confuse you so make sure you solve one reference book for each subject multiple times
5) solve previous year question papers because sometimes questions are repeated as it is and it will also give you the idea that how the questions are being framed from each subject
6)) join any test series so that you get familiar with the pattern and can Manage your time as time management is the most important thing because if you can't manage your time properly then there is no use of studying
7) last and the most important thing not to get distracted from your goal as this your very crucial time so if you feel that your getting distracted then try to watch some motivational videos or meditate as so will bring down your stress level.
I hope this information helps you.
Thank you

What a study plan for dropper students for jee preparation ... When he will start March months....

Saurabh Kumar 5th Jan, 2019

Hello Shyam,

Your basics in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics should be very clear upto 12th std. You should read the NCERT books for basics. Then HC Verma for Physics, RD Sharma for Mathematics, OP Tendon for Physical & Inorganic Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry of "Arihant Publication" for detail or extra knowledge.
You should also try to solve the previous years question papers, this helps too much and you should also give the mock test to rectify yourself and build your confidence level.

For preparation of exam, the most important thing is your confidence after that you should know the whole syllabus and make your plan properly for learning new chapters, solving the numericals and revision. All three things should be the part of your preparation strategy in daily routine.

The main thing is that you have to build your concentration level, then only you can stay focused on your goal. I would like to say that please limit the study time between 10 to 12 hours and please increase your concentration and speed of reading, understanding and solving the problems then you will not face any kind of difficulty.

Is it possible that cat exam is cracked by self preparation or without coaching?which is the simplest books to start prepartion?

Smit Parmar 4th Jan, 2019

Yes it is possible to do so although not mostly recommended because the framework and peer support misses out for preparation. And even if you still want to go for it personally I'd recommend you to atleast buy some good mock series from TIME Careerlauncher etc. So that you can compete like Cat in mock tests with other students of the country.

For self preparation some good basic books to start with are different editions of Arun Sharma. And also go for Takshashila Shikshak YouTube videos. They will help you out.

All the Best.
