Biology ncert + Truemans biology is enough for cracking AIIMS ? N for chem ncert + ncert at your fingertips + coaching material is enough ?

raj22200 Student Expert 25th Jun, 2019

Hello Bhavya !!

For cracking medical exams like NEET , AIIMS,JIPMER you should be well thorough with the NCERT books for all the three subjects.

The AIIMS question paper is usually difficult than the rest but can be solved with proper practice and a little bit of extra knowledge on all the three subjects a apart from what is in NCERT.

For Biology 'Trueman' is a very good choice but keep in mind that there is lot of extra topics covered in the book which will not be any use in this stage . Therefore , be selective in studying the topics .

For both Physics and Chemistry 'NCERT at Fingertips ' is really a good book with lots of questions including diagram questions and HOTS.

Therfore , this set of books will be enough for preparing for AIIMS.

The coaching material depends upon the coaching you are going to . Most of the coaching centres provide pretty good study material.

All the best.

Hope this helps .

how to score 300 plus in neet biology in 1 year preparation.is allen modules good because i am using that and ncert alone

Aakriti Singh 24th Jun, 2019

Hi, to get 300+ in NEET in 1 year preparation is an easy task if you focus on your NCERT especially for biology and inorganic and organic chemistry. That being said you shouldn't completely ignore physics and physical chemistry from ncert. Clear up your bases, make your bases strong as a all the complex formulas and theories arise from simple bases, so if you have strong bases you can even derive the formula yourself. There is not much time to spend on each question in NEET so you'll need to learn time management. Even if your preparation is great but time management isn't then it would affect your final result greatly. Using different modules and sample test papers is a good idea and make sure you solve lots of question papers and previous year papers all in the time that is given for the actual exam and at the same time the exam is going to be conducted as it will train your brain for the exam day. Do take rest and day offs in between. Do not stress or panic. Take it slowly day by day and you'll get it. All the best.

Hi ! Im a student from 11th. Can answer the kvpy scholarship exam without taking biology?

Aakriti Singh 24th Jun, 2019

Hi, of you're giving kvpy in 11th that means you'll be giving kvpy for the first time, i.e. the first stage so you'll have to answer all PCMB questions, that being said even if you do not answer even one biology question in it and prepare really well for PCM part you can easily get selected for the next round. And then when you give kvpy in 12th that is second year you can choose from PCM or PCB. But biology is pretty high scoring, you can easily get those 20-25 marks with just going through the subject once and it'll get you a good rank too. The rest is up to you if you don't want to give biology then make sure your PCM is really strong. Thank you and all the best.

What are very important topics and chapters of kvpy sa exam? How to prepare for it and how to tackle biology as I am pcm student?

Joydeep Saha Student Expert 23rd Jun, 2019
Hey Gaurav !
KVPY SA exam being conducted in Class 11 still incorporates a better syllabus as compared to KVPY SX which takes in through both Class 11 and 12.
Now, coming to your question, KVPY is such an exam where the question paper doesn't check your intelligence or expertise at the subject, rather it evaluates your aptitude and thinking ability to nail a question. Accordingly the question paper of the previous years, clearly show that there has been almost an equal weightage from all chapters from every subject.
Still, if you do want to have a rough idea about whose value is greater :

Physics : Kinematics.
Chemistry : Organic and Physical ( Equilibrium, Gaseous State, Mole Concepts and Atomic theories precisely )
Maths : This is the only subject where the weightage is quite uniform and hence tough to predict the important ones.
Biology : NCERT Biology won't do at all, NCERT focuses on basics, KVPY targets your advanced abilities to assess. Genetics, Human physiology and Ecology are such topics from where questions are quite common. Try to read reference books.

Since you are a PCM Student, I hope you know the exam pattern well. From Section 1, you need to attempt 3 out 4 subjects and from Section 2, 2 out of 4 subjects.
Accordingly, you can leave out Bio if you wish but that depends totally on you. Maximize your time on the subjects which you expertise.

Hope this helps.

Best Wishes !

Biology ncert at your fingertips is enough for AIIMS 2020?

Shivam bhardwaj Student Expert 23rd Jun, 2019

Hello Bhavya,

Biology NCERT is a key to get success in medical exams. But in AIIMS exam you have to study more than NCERT to crack that exam.

So you should have additional knowledge along with NCERT.

Good luck
