Genetic Engineering
Hi Aspirant!
NITs and IITs do not offers course (B.tech) in Genetic Engineering. However, there are many other colleges which offer Genetic Engineering, some of them are:
Delhi Technological University, Delhi
Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Patna
SRM University, Chennai
Bharat University, Chennai
Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore
Sharda University, Greater Noida
Thankyou!
Hi aspirant...!
hope you're doing great...!
so with regard of you're query. Yes, you can get admission in Indian Institute of Science Bangalore for Genetic Engineering. In the Division of Biological Sciences at the Institute is engaged in front line research at the frontiers of modern biology. The IISC BANGALORE encompasses three major departments, four smaller centres and three facilities and has on its rolls more than 50 faculty members and about 300 research scholars and post doctoral fellows. Genetic Engineering is concerned with deliberate manipulation of the genetic material (DNA) of a living organism by artificial methods. Eligibility: you should be 10+2 pass in science stream from recognized board examination. Specializations like Classical genetics, Behavioral genetics, Clinical genetics Molecular genetics, Genetic algorithms etc..
Hope this will helps you..!
good luck...!
Dear Student ,
In B.Tech level , Genetic Engineering is not offered by any IITs . Well, you may get admission in Genetic engineering in the following well known colleges in India :
Well, few IITs accept admission in Genetic Engineering but as PG level . Basic eligibility is to be graduate in Biotechnology or Biological Sciences

Hello,
Yes, you can.
Eligibility criteria to apply for genetic engineering is 10+2 passed with biology, physics, and chemistry as main subjects. So,you being an bipc student can apply for genetic engineering. And admission to this course is through entrance exam like AIEEE, AICEE,JNU EEE,TANCET,ETC based on your result.
Thank you.
Dear applicant
As per the updated information brochure available on the website of IISC Bangalore, till date there is no such course mentioned under the Division of Biological Sciences as B.Tech in Genetic Engineering course, however they have mentioned about their integrated PhD course in Genetics, under the Biological Sciences division. Ir order to keep yourself updated with the notifications provided by the institute, you need to check their website regularly.
Hope it helps!!!
hello aspirant,
B. Tech. Genetic Engineering is a 4- year undergraduate course.
The total fees for B.tech gentic Engineering varies from colleges to colleges, but in general the average fees structure for B.tech Gentic Engineering is around INR 2 to 10 Lacs per annum.
Genetic engineering includes the genetic modification techniques used to achieve the desired characteristic in one living organism. The composition of DNA is altered by either insertion of the gene of desired characteristics that is artificially prepared or obtained from other living organisms.
The eligibility criteria for Btech Genetic Engineering is 10+2 or equivalent qualification from any recognized board (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths as major subjects); minimum aggregate of 50%.
Further, if you wish to know more about the B.Tech in Genetic Engineering course, you can follow the below mentioned link to know more : https://www.careers360.com/courses/b-tech-in-genetic-engineering
I hope that this will help.
See the research can be done in both the fields. If you want to do research in Applied Genetics i.e., how the knowledge acquired from Genetical Science can be used for the goodness of humankind then going for the BTech course will be a good choice & after BTech you can join MTech or PhD as well.
Now if you want to do research in the core Genetics i.e., you want to develop experimental and theoretical explanations of different phenomenon in Genetics, then going for the BSc Genetics is a great choice. After BSc Genetics you can join Integrated PhD or Msc in Genetics.
Now its your choice which field interests you select it & pursue it.
