Seeing trends, what you, based on your experience, would suggest among-cse in good private college or should try at government eng service(ies)

Souradeep_1559130577 Student Expert 31st May, 2019

Hello Ankur,

Its good to see your passion is in Computer Science Engineering. A lot of career opportunities are available but you need to work extremely hard and build a good resume with tons of experience in coding, programming. Participate in hackathons, etc. This will ultimately benefit in placements and you may land a 20lpa offer ( provided companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, etc visit your campus).

On the other hand if you want a secure lifestyle with a steady but grand pay with tons of perks, etc, then go for IES. However I must tell you that dedicated preparation is required for IES. Also once you get in, your career may be stagnant as promotions are very rare in Government services however it does happen. You will enjoy benefits unrivalled by other private company's perks. So go for whichever you think would be best.

WHICH BOOKS SHOULD I PREFER FOR IES PREPARATION AND WHEN SHOULD I START THE PREPARATION?

yash 31st May, 2019

Step 1 Study Material.

First and most thing is that study material. As you are already pursuing your B- tech I assume that you already have standard textbooks. So I suggest you that start reading from that books only. If not then I suggest purchase study material of IES Master that's really gud for civil Engineering.

Step 2. Setting of Targets

For achieving big things you have to set small-small goals and have to work towards them . Like fixing the no of days for a particular subjects and you also have to finished that subject in that time period only because you already running behind the time so no relaxation allowed always keep this in your mind.

Step 3. Strategy for Studying

1.) IES exam comprises of both Objective and Conventional Papers so in beginning please don’t target only on objective papers because subjective questions help you in understanding the subject in better way and it also help in solving objective questions.

2.) After finishing each subjects start solving its last 15 year objective questions and solve atleast 40–50% Subjective questions of last 15 years.

3.) Just like you have to set target so that by 10–15 December you can complete all the subjects .

4.) For paper 1 you have to simultaneously read current affair magazine of a particular month, I suggest you don’t waste time in reading newspapers because current affair magazine of vajiram and ravi (online available) and vision IAS is enough, newspaper consume too much time and things that we want is also not get easily in newspapers. I also advice you purchase one book for paper 1 either from Made-easy or fom IES-mster it contain all the miscellaneous topics that asked in paper 1. keep reading this books simultaneously while preparing for technical portion.

Step 4. Test Series

Join the objective test series (Available online) by the November end and start giving test in December, I suggest you please give atleast 2–3 Full length test and one more thing I like to tell you is that please don’t be demotivate if you get less marks in test. It happens with everyone only thing that you have to do is to analyse your test start preparing your weak points. For conventional papers also I suggest you join test series in month of march and start giving test this tests give you actual feel of exam and helps you in making strategy for attending actual exams .

So In the end start preparing for IES you have enough time and you can easily crack this exam . Only thing that you have to do is strictly follow your study plan and always stick with it in any situations . If you need any other Suggestions feel free to ask I love to help future IES aspirants

IES PGDM CORE vs WELINGKAR PGDM in Media and Entertainment. Which one would be a better choice in the long run keeping placements in mind?

Aman Yadav 20th May, 2019

Greetings Aishwarya!

Hope you're doing great.

Both the colleges either IES or WeSchool Welingkar offers Post Graduation Diploma(PGDM) in Media and Entertainment. Indian Education Society is one of India's oldest Public Charitable Trusts committed to education and successfully running 67 Institutions. IES Management College and Research Centre (IESMCRC) is recognized as a premier business school, committed to academic excellence and value-based education. Armed with proficient and experienced faculty members and state-of-the-art academic infrastructure, IES MCRC provides an excellent environment for research and development activities. On the other hand, Founded in 1888, Shikshana Prasaraka Mandali is one of the pioneers of educational societies in Maharashtra.

Eligibility Criteria: To take admission into any of the above mention school, the student needs to have minimum 50% marks in his/her graduation and should give CMAT, CAT, XAT or ATMA exam.

Infrastructure and Faculty: While comparing the infrastructure and faculty facilities provided at the campus. No doubt, Welingkar Institute comes out with flying colours. The building is amazing and gorgeous in Welingkar campus. Close proximity to metropolitan cities is the reason why this institute attracts some of the best minds across the nation.

Both colleges offer PGDM degree which is a two-year diploma course equivalent to master's level course in India.

Fee and Placements: The course fee for Media and Communication at Welingkar is somewhere around 5.5 lac per annum +2 lac (hostel+mess+library) but, the college has a very decent ROI, the average salary at the college is 7.75 lac CTC and highest salary is close to 10 lac CTC. Whereas in the case of IES institute the course fee is 5.3 lac per annum. The student can expect an average salary around the same to Welingkar. However, the highest package is offered more frequent in Welingkar compare to IES.

Hope this will help. Do reach out in the comment section below if you need any help.

Cheers!

Is GATE preparation help to get good rank in IES?

M. Kushagra. 12th Apr, 2019
Yes,gate preparation helps you for ies also but major point is syllabus covered in gate is much smaller than ies to be able to co-op with other aspirants who are only preparing for ies! Since ies has easier question compared to gate but calculation you have to do on your own, gate aspirant generally start calculating 2*2 using virtual calculator, basically point is a overdependence on calculator is commonly seen in gate student and when u go for ies brain goes blank in exam!
Pros of gate student if question comes from gate syllabus he can definitely solve it.
I am telling about ece.gate vs prelims only!

Indira pune and Met/Ies mumbai, which one is better?

KANHU CHARAN ROUT 11th Apr, 2019
Dear student MIT (MITWPU) is better than Indira. The faculty is very good here, you will have a separate mentor for guiding you for two-years related and one placement guide so that you never miss the opportunity available for. Other than this, you will have rural emersion, national and international education tour. All above this is apart from academics.
Thank you...
