I am studying 12 th STD now can I write kvpy exam

Anurag Khanna 30th Jun, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

See there are three categories of KVPY examination SA, SX and SB category for class 11th, 12th and UG students respectively.

So if you are currently studying in class 12th then you can appear for SX category KVPY and can avail scholarship for further studies in the field of science and research.

To be eligible for availing scholarship through SX category you need to fulfil the prerequisites which are mentioned below  :-

** Currently you should be studying in class 12th mandatorily with basic science courses.

** In class 10th you must have secured 75% aggregate marks in Mathematics and Science subjects if you belongs to General category otherwise you need 65%.

** In class 12th you should secure 60% aggregate marks in all subjects if you belongs to General category otherwise you need 50%.

For more details kindly check out the links given below :-

I NEED TO JOIN IISER BUT I HAVE AN MAJOR DOUBT STUDENTS CAN JOIN IISER THROUGH 3 CHANNELS @KVPY CHANNEL @JEE CHANNEL @SCB CHANNEL CAN I WRITE BOTH KVPY AND IISER APTITUDE TEST ?? WHAT HAPPEN IF I AM SELECTED IN BOTH ??

Aditi amrendra Student Expert 21st Jul, 2021
Hello,

The exam conducting authorities will be conducting IISER 2021 admission through three channels - JEE, SCB and KVPY. IISER aptitude test 2021 will be conducted for admission through SCB channel while KVPY and JEE Advanced qualified applicants will not be required to appear for the exam.
Yes, you can appear in both the exams and make no mistake this won't be easy. I wish you all the best that you crack both the exams but the competition is very high and your preparation should he top notch if you want to get selected. Also if you consider going through JEE advance channel then i would like to add that you need to get a rank underst 10k to get admission in IISERs.

I hope this helps.

I would like to pursue b tech aerospace engineering after my 12 th class. if I take kvpy -2021 exam is there any benefit for me?

Akanksha 20th Jul, 2021
Hello Aspirant

If you want to go for B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering you will have to give engineering entrance exams required by particular colleges.

Few of the engineering entrance exams are:
1. BITSAT
2. JEE Main
3. JEE Advanced
4. SRMJEEE
Also, State CETs

KVPY will be beneficial only to students who want to purse their career in basic science courses in IISC or IISER. You can give KVPY if you want to check your aptitude skills. But I would suggest you that if you want to go with Aerospace Engineering, focus on engineering entrance exams and score well in them.

Hope this helps

I scored 5.5 in kvpy exam ?? is it a good mark or not ? 5.5(out of 100)

Manasvini B 9th Jun, 2021

Hey ,

KVPY is the entrance test for getting into IISc , IISERs that are extremely reputed institutes. A score of 5.5 in the KVPY exam is unfortunately not enough to get selected for the interview. There are 3 streams , i.e, SA,SB,SX for different categories. SA is for 11th grade , SX for 12th and SB for first year undergraduation. However the cutoff through any category and stream isnt sufficient.

To know more about the KVPY cutoffs check this out -

students who are interested in btech can join in KVPY

Disha Devadiga 11th Jun, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna (KVPY) is a national program funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. It is organised by the Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc) to attract students who aim to pursue basic science courses and research careers in science. Students enrolled in grade 11 (Stream SA), grade 12 - science subjects (Stream X) and 1st-year undergraduate programs like B.Sc/B.Stat/B.Math, etc. (Stream SB) are eligible for the exam.

The syllabus for the different streams are:

Stream SA: covers all topics and chapters of class 10 and 11.

Stream SX: covers all topics and chapters of class 10, 11 and 12.

Stream SB: covers all topics and chapters of class 10, 11 and 12 along with

the syllabus of the 1st-year UG course.

As you must have noticed the syllabus of Stream SA and SX are similar to the syllabus of JEE Main and other competitive exams necessary for a B. Tech degree. So, if you are aiming to give one of these competitive exams, there is no harm in giving KVPY a try as well. This will help you understand where you stand in the process of preparation for the competitive exams and also help you understand the difficulty level of the questions appearing in the exam, thereby, enhancing your chances of getting into a good college to acquire your B. Tech degree.

After all, Practice makes Perfect.

Hope you found this to be useful.

Good luck!

if i will fail to qualify in SA in KVPY then will i able to do btech from iit ?

ginnisachdeva02_9364270 Student Expert 20th May, 2021

HI Shubham!

KVPY exam is for the admission in IISc, IISER, IIITs and CVCE with Fellowship during basic science Studies and Free Entry to all National Libraries in India. Also, there are various streams under KVPY, but SA stream is for students who are currently pursuing 11th class.

But with KVPY you can cannot get admission in IIT. To get admission in IIT a candidate have to first qualify JEE MAINS and then JEE Advanced. JEE MAINS is conducted for 4 times a year and JEE ADVANCED is conducted once a year. You can check it out here:

Thankyou!

i am in class 11 and if i will not qualify kvpy then can i take engeeniring in college

Abhishek Roy 20th May, 2021

Yeah definitely like, there is hardly any relation between KVPY and your studying Engineering. Ive seen my classmates from school/coaching failing to clear JEE Advanced in spite of an excellent performance in KVPY, while Ive seen my batchmates at IIT KGP, studying at IIT despite failing at KVPY.

Of course, KVPY does give a boost to your Resume as well as increases you confidence for preparation. Doesnt mean you wont clear Engineering Entrance exams, if you fail at KVPY.

Perhaps focus on completing the JEE Syllabus well before JEE Mains next Year, take a proper Test Series and make you preparation more of a strategy than blunt hardwork.

Yeah, at the same time Target Other Good Entrance Exams like BITSAT and COMEDK besides JEE.
