Sociology
Hello STudent,
First of all you should determine whether you go for Union Public Service commission civil service examination or for your masters. Because you cannot prepare for or two of this together. UPSC CSE or IAS exam is one of the toughest examination in India. So you should prepare well for this if you have a clear view target. You have to practice again and again.
As you are coming from Science background, both sociology and history is new for you. If you choose history it will be a safe option. Because you just have to go through NCERT fundamental books thoroughly to score the highest marks in history.

Hello Aspirant,
It is very good thing to have plan B as a back-up plan so if you are seeking admission in BA in Sociology then it is recommended that you go with IGNOU as it is an university under the direct control of central government which and also it is very well known and trusted university, it is not the thing that UP Rajarshi Tandon Open University is somewhat bad but when we compare both of them then definitely IGNOU will win the comparison. IGNOU offers large number of UG and PG programs in distance mode so that one can complete their studies from the comfort of their home and can also get the recognized degree.

Hi,
There are not any entrance exams conducted by Delhi University for B.A Sociology (Hons.). However, the admission for this course is on the merit basis. General criteria for admission in DU is as given:
- You must have cleared class 12th from any recognized board.
- You must have minimum marks as specified according to the course you choose.
For your chosen course, additional criteria are:
1. An aggregate minimum 55% marks in either English or any one of scheduled languages and best three other subjects .
2. Out of the best three chosen above one needs to be the related subject in which you want admission in, else you might face a deduction of 1% on the aggregate of the Best Four.
You can refer to this link for more details: https://university.careers360.com/articles/du-ba-eligibility-criteria#DU-BA-Eligibility-Criteria-2021--Basic-Requirements
I hope this helped you.
Hello aspirant,
NEP hasn't been implemented yet. And there is no problem in pursuing BA major's in Sociology unless you fulfill the eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria for the Course states that the candidate must have passed class 12th with minimum 45-50% marks in any subject stream from a recognised board of education.
The Union Budget 2021-22 has already set the ball rolling with the announcement to qualitatively strengthen 15,000 schools across India to implement NEP. ... Going forward, the education sector must harness the forces of technology and pedagogy to further bolster the benefits accruing from NEP.
Dear student,
In the new education policy the rules are changed and they are yet to announce them. Till then nothing can be said. As of now, there may be changes in the major as per NEP. Once they formulate the rules then only anything can be said on this.
Till then don't come to any conclusion. Just wait and see. Let the rules be out and later you can think of the course
Hope this information helped you.
See some of the changes like this are going to account but its not made clear till now. The Education Policy in new printed form will be enforced and after the enforcement of the policy all the rules will be applicable. So anything for confirm can't be said but yeah! there will be no perfect major as per the NEP 2020 (as much as released). As this isn't enforced so you can major now but after the enforcement only all this rules of NEP 2020 will apply.
I hope my answer helps. All the very best for your future endeavors!
