I plan to study abroad. A lot of people are suggesting to do UG in India and then pursue PG abroad. Why is this so? And what would be best?

Sumedha Saxena 15th Feb, 2019

Hello Kartik Agrawal,

Studying abroad is expensive especially if you are choosing a research based subjects like biotechnology. Certain reasons as to why people prefer doing their undergraduate level education from India and then go abroad for pursuing their post-graduate level education are:

  • You don't immediately get a job after you have successfully finished your undergraduate course in a research field. You need to do your masters in order to get good, well paying jobs.
  • The chances of getting scholarships are higher in the post-graduate level of education.
  • The funding and facilities of research are best enjoyed abroad. And this gets really relevant when you are doing the Masters.
  • It is very expensive to pursue bachelors from a university abroad.

Undergraduate Course Expenses;

  • America (USA) - Tution expenses vary from $10,000 to $50,000 (i.e. Rs. 7,10,300 to Rs. 35,51,500); Living Expenses vary from $8,000 to $12,000 (i.e. Rs. 5,68,240 to Rs. 8,52,360)
  • United Kingdom - Tution fee ranges from £10,000 to £38,000 (i.e. Rs. 9,08,846 to Rs. 34,53,616)
  • Australia - Tution fee ranges from 15000 AUD to 33000 AUD (i.e Rs. 7,56,825 to Rs. 16,65,015)

These are yearly fee ranges of three of the most preferred places for higher education. A course of 3-4 years will cost you around a crore (including tution and living charges only)

Post-graduate Course Expenses:

  • America (USA) - Tution fee ranges between $20,000 $30,000 (i.e. Rs. 14,20,000 to Rs. 21,30,000)
  • United Kingdom - Tution fee ranges between £6,000 to £10,000 (i.e. Rs. 5,44,977 to Rs. 9,08,295)
  • Australia - Tution fee ranges between 14,000 AUD to 37,000 AUD (i.e. Rs. 7,06,370 to Rs. 18,66,835)

The tution fees of undergraduate and postgraduate levels are nearly the same, thus if you go for both Undergraduate and postgraduate level of education abroad you will end up spending 2-3 crores.

If you plan on going abroad for your undergraduate education, I would suggest you do it from a first-tier university so that your money gets spent worthwile. Spending your money on a lesser known university will not do your portfolio any good.

If you feel that doing an undergraduate and post-graduate course abroad will be too expensive, you can do you undergrad from any of the good universities in India, prepare well for your GRE and TOEFL and get into a good university.

I hope this helps!

What is easy visa .Is that for study .what are requirements.

shivam pandey 13th Feb, 2019

Heyy Savan Maratha....

There's nothing like the term easy visa. It may be e-visa and must have misread or misinterpreted it. It means that the visa is electronic and not a physically printed one on the passport. The term means that you can arrive at the destination airport and be granted a visa right there after a short process.

Schlorship test for studying abroad after 12th

Deepshikha Student Expert 10th Feb, 2019

Hey,

The scholarship to study abroad comes from merit and the merit is decided on three factors:

Academic Performance, Test scores,Skills related to the subject of interest. It also depends on the country where you want to go.

Most of the universities do not conduct any specefic scholarship exam as they select students and offer financial support to them based on their performance in exams like TOEFL,IELTS,SAT etcetera.Plus, they check your overall performance and resume. So make sure that you are having spectacular academic performance or extracurricular activities.

There are few scholarships that are offered to help students study abroad after 12th for instance-

1.British Council -It offers around 370 scholarships worth 1 million pounds to aid students dreaming to study in UK.There are 36 UK universities participating in this program and offers around 260 undergraduate courses.

2.There are certain community groups that encourage and support exceptional

members in their academic endeavours. For example:The Harvey Fellow program which aid christian students pursuing graduation at premier universities.

3.Rotary Global Grant Scholarship programs which supports graduate level international study.

4.QS Undergraduate Scholarship

5.Great Wall Program

6.Clarendon Scholarships at the university of Oxford

7.Tata Scholarships for Cornell university

Apart from these there are other scholsrships offered by  universities in  Australia,USA,Canada and many more that you can get on applying for different courses in their countries.

Hope this helps.

PERIYA NAYAKI P 9th Feb, 2019

hi serene fernandez,

yes, there are some universities will offer undergraduate program for the indian students.but most of the universitites all over the world are ready to offer master's degree for the international students.

the duration of bachelor's degree will vary with different countries(3 or 4 years),the universities in US ,UK and canada offering 4 years of bachelor course.since the visa for USA has many restrictions than past years, you can go with uk or canada or germany.please refer the following university's official website:

  • harvard university
  • stanford university
  • yale university
  • university of cambridge
  • university of oxford
  • university of california
  • university of michigan
  • princeton university
  • university college london

if you gonna do Bachelor's degree in abroad, then you have to take some language tests like TOEFL etc.,this requirements also vary with different country and universities admission process.

if you're interested to do master in clinical psycology, then you have to bachelor of arts in psycology, nursing or any other medical courses.please check out all college's website, since each will require certain eligibility criteria for the international students.then another important eligibility required for the candidates is,they must have obtained atleast 55% in their bachelor's degree.

All the best!

note:if any links available, copy and paste it in the url bar of your browser.

I Hope this information will be useful to you.

Can anyone get admission in technical course in German University with low CGPA?

Shraya Singh 9th Feb, 2019

Hello,

While applying for admission in German universities, a number of aspects of the application are considered of which GPA is only one. Although a minimum GPA requriement is generally defined for each university for incoming students, sometimes exceptions are made by the admissions committee.

Despite this, it is important to note that exceptions are made only if your application is exceptionally strong in other areas which includes:

  • standardized test scores
  • English language proficiency test scores
  • statement of purpose
  • letters of recommendation
  • resume/CV

Additionally, if your application is especially strong and promising in the area of study which you are applying for, then the admissions committee may overlook a lower GPA.
