I would like to tell you that it's difficult to get vnit nagpur even in the csab round because the cut offs are way higher . Furthermore it depends on certain factors like number of candidates appearing in the examination, number of vacant seats in college, previous years cut offs and difficulty level of the paper.

So , I would recommend you to look for gftis like gurughasidas, Assam University, kongri Vishwavidyalaya and nits like Nagaland, mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Agartala, sringar.

With a percentile of 87 it would be very difficult to get mechanical branch that too in old nit like VNIT ( NIT nagpur ) ,if you had apercentile just above 90 then it was possilble still dont give up just go for special round if you get a seat by luck , who knows so try your luck ,do have much hope .
