Indian Medical Education system is different from the US Medical Education system. In India, we study MBBS and move on to study MD/MS. In the US, there are 2 medical degrees called D.O and M.D. Medical Council of India recognises M.D. degree but hasn't yet recognised D.O. degree. And so if any US Doctor has only done his/her D.O, then they cannot practise in India. On the other hand, if he/she has done his/her M.D. they are allowed to practise in India. Such professionals have to register themselves with MCI by submitting all the necessary documents athenticated by a regulatory body in the US and endorsed by the Indian Consulate in the US.
