No, your board marks describe your potential in the subjects which you had for your board exams.To know your potential in the technical field we all appear for various competitive exams like JEE MAINS and all.So in Thapar University, you have to produce the JEE main scores.Some colleges take their own admission tests they don't ask for JEE mains scores but since Thapar University doesn't conduct any test so they ask for JEE scores.

The admission to B.Tech/ B.E programmes 2018 at Thapar University will be based on JEE Main 2018 scores of the candidates. University will not conduct any separate exam for admission to B.Tech programmes.
