Hello there aspirant!

I think it doesn't matter wherever you get your admission, your category certificate is the only certificate that will be considered valid as you are the one taking admission. So you should get your category certificate made if you want to seek admission in Thapar University.

Hi aspirant,
You cannot use your father's category certificate to get admission via any quota. However, you can use his category certificate to get your category certificate made within a few weeks at  your nearby Tehsil Office, Revenue Office, SDM Office or CSC / SETU centers.
All the best!

Unfortunately no. A student who is seeking admission should submit a Category Certificate in his/her name. The  certificate needs to mention the Parent's name but Parent's Category Certificate cannot be considered a valid Category certificate.
