Hi aspirant, according to today's news, earlier, in the academic year 2016-17, the tuition fee of socially and economically backward students at the IIT was waived off. However, now, SC/ST/PH students shall get complete fee waiver. Students whose parents earn less than Rs 1 lakh can get full remission of the fee.

Also, the government has decided to waive in full the annual fees for students from SC/ST, differently-abled and economically weaker sections. Students from families with an annual income of less than Rs 1 lakh will be able to study in the IITs for free.
