Hello,

Geography has always played a prominent role in shaping the history. Same is true for Indian history. It is generally said that history is determined by chronology and geography. The geographical features of Indian subcontinent have influenced the history of India.

The Indian subcontinent has three main reasons: Himalaya Mountains, southern peninsula and Indo - Gangetic plains. Regional differences and related separate identities greatly fostered by geography, have stood in the way of the rise of durable pan Indian states in Indian history.

So, Geography always play a vital role in shaping History. It was this geography only which led to various foreign invasions into India, making it a “melting pot of numerous culture, races, religion, languages”. It also plays a key role in determining demography and economy of a region.
