The first Civil Services exam was conducted on October 1st, 1926 under the Charimanship of Lord Ross Baker. This was conducted by the Public Service Commission of India. Anna Rajam Malhotra was the first IAS officer. She belonged to the batch of 1951 officers and was also the first female IAS officer.
