Hostel  number is alloted at the time of admission.
For boys, there are four hostels, and girls there is only one hostel for the first year.
So , hostel numbers of boys are alloted at random according to the number of rooms and beds in a particular hostel.

Once you board to the alloted hostel at the time of shifting, you would be given a room at random.
If you reach early, you would have options to change your room in case you don't like it.
