As per your question, as taking any courses in IITs would be far better if and only if you have interest in that subject. As per aritficial intelligence engineering in IIT hyderabad , they newly introduced this branch not only iit hyderabad but mostly IITs are going to introduce this new branch as this is a new courses worldwide which would be beneficial for upcoming future . So persuing this as your personal interest engineering you can go with this branch as this branch would be in trend as in upcoming future like CS and IT.

Also as an alternative you can go with bachelors in CSE and masters in AI but depends on you and your personal interest.

As you might be knowing that IITH is the first institute in India to introduce a new BTech program on AI engineering. Though the seats are very limited and the name AI is having such a demand now a days, the cutoff rank for it will be competing with that of CSE of IITH and other old IITs.

My view upon the branch is that it will be having some awesome faculty . Firstly, at IITH are having some really good profs in this field. The course provides quick start to understand what AI is all about. It was really awesome. So if you are truly interested in pursuing a degree in AI , there's no other fantastic place other an IITH.
