In India, the average salary of a psychologist is between Rs. 2.5 to 3.5 lacs per year . Once you get established in this field or specialize in any of its branches you can earn more. In the United States, a psychologist earns an average salary of more than $70 k per year.

For any professional career, the experience matters a lot. So after a PhD in psychology, mostly the students practice under a senior Psychologist to gain some experience. After gaining experience, he/she can work with the senior psychologist or can try practicing him/herself. So the income getting higher is after 3-5 years of experience of your PhD. But in general for a fresher, the income ranges between Rs. 6LPA-8LPA but in cities like Delhi/Mumbai/Kolkata etc if you use to practice under a good Psychologist then you can expect a salary of Rs 10-12LPA which will go on increasing as you became more experienced and after 10 years of practice depending on your charisma you can earn Rs. 15-20 LPA easily (As per the data available on online surveys).
