I cleared VITEEE and got ECE in VIT. In JEE advanced my rank comes to about 24k. Should I drop a year and try for IIT or go for VIT?

Take a drop bro. Take it from me - as engineers nothing is more prestigious than IITs.

And VIT is not a very good institution.

Take a drop study for IITJEE. And next time give exams like BITSAT and ComedK WBJEE along with IITs...So that even if you miss IITs you can go for other prestigious colleges. Thank me later.

I would suggest you to go for a drop this year and get a good college next year i.e. IITs or NITs since one year spent in preparation will be nothing as compared to your 40 years of career.
