Hello,

No. You cannot get admission in IIST on the basis of JEE Mains score. For admission in IIST, the score of JEE Advanced is taken into consideration.

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology is a government-aided institute and deemed university for the study and research of space science, located at Valiamala, Thiruvananthapuram.

The eligibility criteria to take admission in IIST is:

1. Candidates must have passed any of the 10+2 exam

2. Candidates must have scored at least 75 % aggregate marks in 10th and 12th examinations

3. The subjects that will be taken into account for calculating the aggregate marks are Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, any language and any other subject

4. Candidates must clear the JEE Advanced exam

5. General category candidates must score at least 20% marks in JEE Advanced i.e 72 marks out of 360 and at least 6 marks out of 120 in each of the three subjects

6. OBC-NCL candidates must score at least 65 marks out of 360 marks and 5 marks out of 120 in each of the three subjects

7. SC, ST & PD candidates must score at 10% marks i.e 36 marks out of 360 and 3 marks out of 120 in each of the three subjects.

6.  The number of seats reserved for different categories is:

  • Scheduled Caste (SC): 15%

  • Scheduled Tribes (ST): 7.5%

  • Persons with Disabilities (PD): 5% (Horizontal Reservation

  • Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to Non-Creamy Layer (NCL): 27%

Hope it helps. Best Wishes.

Hello dear aspirant,

Yes, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology take admission on the basis of marks scored in jee mains.
However it also takes admission on the basis of jee advanced marks.
IIST BTech cutoff os the minimum marks required for admission in this institute.
Candidate who score above the cutoff marks become eligible for admission while who don't have advanced score equivalent to IIST cutoff will have lesser chance of admission.
Hope this helps
