Economically Weaker Section (EWS or GEN-EWS) in India is a sub category of people belonging to the General Category having an annual family income less than ₹8 lakhs and who do not belong to any reserved category such as SC/ST/OBC. If an EWS candidate's annual family income is above the prescribed limit, then he/she will be recognized as a candidate from General category and not from GEN-EWS category.

Benefits of EWS is that you will not have to pay full fees of your course in the institute. You will get scholarship which will decrease your fees and load of fees on your parents.

According to your CRL rank you won't get seat in DTU inside Delhi but we can't say about ews rank because ews is a new quota introduced now, so hows its rank is calculated is not known to us now.
