Established in 1941 ,DTU (Formerly Delhi College Of Engineering) is one of oldest Engineering college in the country and hence has a wide and successful alumni base across all possible sectors . The campus of 164 acres that too in the national capital gives you the right space to do all kinds of student activities and is the first thing which attracts students towards DTU . Placements here are the best in non old IITs in the country ( if you don't believe me you can check the official stats). The best part about the college is the overall development of an Individual that takes place here due to the activities in the various tech and non tech societies and interaction with the seniors (they are very helpful) .Even the sports infrastructure is good and fests here are best in North India . The faculty is average (comparable to NITs) and student quality is also pretty good . Overall it's a must join college if you aren't getting old IIT ,you won't ever repent taking DTU !

Our college, Delhi Technological University is in a very bustling area of New Delhi, Rohini. It is spread across over 150 acres and is filled with lush greenery. To talk about the infrastructure and the facilities offered, we have fully air-conditioned and WiFi enabled classrooms, fully upgraded labs in every department and many basic amenities like canteens, gym, SBI, a post-office, etc. The student crowd is wonderful here and you can make friends very quickly and everybody is very nice and friendly over here. The seniors are a huge asset, going to the lengths of organising interactive sessions with the juniors. We also have various technical and non-technical societies as well the official student body for every department. As regards to the faculty, they are very friendly in asking doubts and there are a lot if research scholars here that take out classes if the main teacher is absent. The seniors will guide us through the Training and Placement process, so no problem on that front. In summary, I would say that DTU is the best place to widen your horizons and expand your skill set.

Placements: The placements of senior batch this year are pretty good. The average salary offered is about 8lakhspa. Almost All the tech companies are open for this branch and seniors got good offers from companies like snapdeal, amazon, flipkart, paytm, samsung, etc. Infrastructure: Dtu has a huge campus of about 164.7 acres and you will fall in love with it. The campus is extremely beautiful with a lot of greenery. Our College library is quite big and situated in 3 storey centrally air conditioned building with capacity of atound 300 users. It has a well equipped centralized computer centre. We have 3 canteens including a Nescafe. Labs are also well equipped. Faculty: Faculty members are qualified and experienced but not all of them are willing to teach. PROFESSOR to student ratio is 65:1. The course curriculum includes Data structures, Algos, and theoretical/real mathematics. Course includes 50% of CSE Curriculum. Other: If you land up here you will love the college.

It was a great experience to study at DTU. The beautiful huge campus is the USP of our college. The OAT was the best hangout place for all of us. The canteen serves a delicious variety of food. The hostels, although they were not maintained properly, was the centre of lot many beautiful memories like after-parties after TechFests and EngiFests. The mess food was not so good but the night mess was a thing I waited for the whole day especially during exams. And not to forget MAGGI BABA who serves Maggi, omelette, tea etc from 7 pm to 4-5 am is the best place inside the campus to visit at wee hours of the night and satisfy our hunger. Talking about studies, the course pattern was outdated at that time and there were only a few professors who actually wanted to teach the students others were also good teachers but just not so involved. But still, the professors were very helpful when doing projects with them was concerned. To sum up, college was a mixed experience where lots and lots of happy memories were made and the life cannot be relived ever.

Journey from a layman to a professional

Delhi Technological University is I will definitely say one of the best engineering colleges in Delhi. It is accessible from the nearest metro and the bus stations. There is nothing lacking about the infrastructure. 100+ acres of green-filled campus, a gym, canteens, a post office, SBI, what more does a college student need? The classrooms are clean and in general the college campus is also quite clean. We have a big library with books catering to all years and all courses of all branches. the labs, having been recently upgraded are also up to the mark. As regards to the student crowd, there is a very good senior-junior interaction. We keep meeting them at our student societies and they even go to the extent of keeping interactive sessions with the juniors. The student societies, especially the tech teams, are among the best in the country. The faculty are sometimes hard on us but they are generally chill. One can also get good industry exposure by working in so many projects offered to the students.

About College:

The Delhi Technological University (DTU) had its roots way back in 1941 when it started off as the Delhi Polytechnic. This makes it the oldest engineering college in Delhi, and one of the oldest in the entire country. It was originally under the control of the Government of India but then passed into the hands of the government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi from 1963 onwards. It was then known as the Delhi College of Engineering (DCE). Its affiliation was with the University of Delhi (DU) from 1952 till 2009. During this period, the admission procedure and the syllabus were shared with the Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology which was founded in 1983. The curriculum was then set by the Faculty of Technology, University of Delhi. But since 2009, it has been accorded the status of a full-fledged university.

The DTU started off its operations in the older avatar in its Kashmiri Gate campus before moving out in the year 1995 to its new 164- acre centre on Bawana Road. Another campus was begun in 2017 in Vivek Vihar which is in East Delhi. This centre is known as the University School of Management and Entrepreneurship (USME). Training for a number of courses is imparted at the two campuses. At the UG level, there is the BTech programme. The BBA and BA in Economics courses are run from the USME centre. In 2018, a B.Des. was also begun. Admission to this course is via the UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design). At the PG level, there is an MTech as well as an MBA. There are Evening or Part- time courses as well at both the undergrad as well as master’s levels. There are doctoral as well as postdoctoral programmes on offer as well. Admissions for the BTech course is via the JAC (Joint Admissions Counselling) process. At the PG level, it is through the GATE (Graduate Admissions Test for Engineering) route. For the MBA programme, admissions are done using the scores in the CAT (Common Admission Test). An Executive MBA is also here on offer for the working professionals. There is a specialized MBA as well in Business Analytics. International students’ admissions is much encouraged here. Special provisions are made to ensure the campus has a more international appeal.

The academics here is divided among several departments with individual expertise in its own designated area. The departments here are for – Applied Physics, Applied Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Biotechnology, Design, Information Technology (IT), Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environment Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics & Communication. Due to the present needs, there is also a Department for Humanities. There is a separate Delhi School of Management. The USME now, of course, is on a separate campus. The DTU follows a Quality Policy in order to maintain the level of quality towards academia. The idea is to further hone industry-academia links. A specific Quality Manual has been prepared to this extent. In order to protect and further develop more innovations, an IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) Policy has been curated here.

The infrastructure at both the campuses of DTU is of top-notch quality. For a start, the campus is equipped with EDUSAT facility. There is a hub for the same. It also has a Knowledge Park. The idea of this is to integrate knowledge from different sources towards the common good. This park is to have areas for knowledge on sectors such as Telecom, Infrastructure, Energy, Nano Technology and IT. There are adequate hostels for students and guest houses for visitors. A health centre and a gymnasium are also attached to these residential facilities for all to take advantage of. The central library has one of the best collection of books possible. There is also the linkage to enormous amounts of academic input through the digital access to research journals. Attached next to the library is the computer centre, which too has the latest technology for access to the internet.

The DTU is also an active player when it comes to consultancy assignments. There are several industry or government-sponsored consulting projects that the DTU is presently involved in. Some of the organizations or departments with which these projects are ongoing or completed include- DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organization), TBRL (Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory), SERB (Science and Engineering Research Board), DST (Department of Science and Technology), UGC (University Grants Commission) and IUAC (Inter-University Accelerator Centre) besides others.

All this has contributed to the DTU securing extremely high ranks across all platforms. It has been accorded rank 41 among engineering colleges, 70th among universities and 100th overall by the NIRF (National Institutional Rankings Framework). The Careers 360 magazine has also rated it as the 82nd best among engineering colleges with an AAAA+ rating. It has also been accredited by the NAAC (National Assessments and Accreditation Council).
