With a 44,000 OBC rank in JEE Mains, getting a free seat (meaning no tuition fee under fee waiver or low fees) in top NITs or IIITs for CSE or ECE is tough. But you have good chances in lower branches like Civil, Mechanical, or Metallurgy in newer NITs like NIT Sikkim, NIT Puducherry, NIT Arunachal, or NIT Nagaland. Some IIITs may also offer seats in less demanded branches. Also, check if you qualify for fee waiver under EWS or income-based schemes.
