It all depends on your CAT score. I did manage to get admission to an older IIM with 4.73/10 during graduation. Am sure there will be some IIMs that look beyond grades.

I have many batchmates, seniors and juniors at IIT with ~50% in the XII board exams, that are doing well in their careers today. Many of them have not done an MBA. And, I also know 4 pointers and 5 pointers who have gotten admission at older IIMs.
