For JOSAA counselling  your category rank will be considered

You will have to fill many choices of branches and institute.

As there is limited seats so your category rank will be considered first. Then if the seat is vacant you will be given or else the process continues.

In Josaa counselling if you belong to general category then your CRL rank will be used and if you belong to other categories such as OBC/SC/ST then your category rank will be used.

Based on category rank you'll be allotted seat in a particular college according to your choices .

In JoSAA your category rank will be used for counselling. As there is limited seats for a particular category in any branch in any institution so first your category will be seen for your first choice and then it will be checked that if seat is available for your category. If seat seat is available then you will be alloted that seat. If seat is not available then you respective next choice seat availability will be checked further. This process is repeated till you get a seat.
