In terms of placements mechanical branches are better than civil( in the essence the no of civil students placed are less compare to other top branches) . But if you are interested in civil branch don't worry about placements you will be placed in good company with good package .MNIT mechanical are quite good.If you are not interested in civil then you can choose  mechanical.
