is mining engineering in iit dhanbad better than civil engineering in nit warangal

Both have their own pros and cons. Let me give you some difference- first of all the tag  of IIT and NIT.

Second about the placement- the placement for civil engineering in core sectors is not good. You have to choose towards IT or consulting roles.

But in mining  since the batch strength is small, mass recruitment is done by COAL INDIA which is a Psu and rest by vedanta and Hindalco and other core companies.  There are lots of offers in core sectors.  If you have intrest toward IT roles then you can prepare for it and grab it in ISM-dhanbad. But, remember if the mining sector in that financial year is not good then recruitment in core will be very low and you have to turn toward IT again

But overall you can have a slight better choice towards IIT dhanbad.

In terms of college,  ISM Dhanbad  stood far better then NIT Warangal.

And the field which you opting has almost nice scope in industrial recruitments domain. Though it opens a bright prospects for research which too you'll find lack of guidance if you are studying in India.
