Hi! JEE exams are entrance exams for getting into colleges like IITs and NITs. These exams are neccessary for getting into specific colleges, not for choosing a particular stream!

So, if you are interested in Civil Engineering, you can easily pursue it from a variety of different colleges, for which you will need to give different exams,or you can prepare for JEE, and get your degree in Civil Engineering from IITs and NITs, and other prestigious insititutes.

From your tag, I observed that you are talking about a specific college,Mahatma Gandhi Mission's Jawaharlal Nehru Engineering College-

In order to get admission in that college for civil engineeering-

1. Maharashtra candidature candidates need to appear for MH-CET Entrance Exam and All India Candidature Candidates, Jammu and Kashmir Migrant Candidature Candidates need to appear for MH-CET/JEE Main Entrance Exam.

2. Candidates then need to appear for Maharashtra Centralised Admission Process (CAP).

3. Candidates will be offered admission through CAP based on their merit in MH-CET/JEE Main Entrance Exam.

If you have more questions, you can check the following link for more details-

Hope this helps!

Hello,

For getting admission into a college you have to be eligible for that college.Different  colleges have different criterias of checking this eligibility. So Jee exam ie jee mains or jee advanced are just two engineering exams for government colleges like Nits,IIITs,IITs,etc. Some colleges take admissions on the basis of 12th marks whereas some conduct their own joint entrance exam. There are entrance exams of state level also.So jee is not compulsory to do engineering.

Best Wishes ,
Thank you .

Jee main is a national level entrance examination for admission to various Engineering colleges. Most of the Engineering colleges in India accept Jee Main score. Through Jee Main, you can get Admission to NITs, IIITs, CFTIs and many other Engineering Institutes. Now Jee Main is not compulsory for becoming an civil engineer. There are various state level engineering Engineering Entrance exams like WBJEE, COMEDK, UPSEE, MHTCET, ASSAM CEE, KCET, OJEE etc and many university level Entrance examinations such as VITEEE, BITSAT, SRMJEE etc. You can also appear for these entrances for getting admission to the respective college. For appearing in state level Entrance examinations, you need to have the domicile of the state. Through these entrances, you'll get admission to an engineering college and choose the branch based on your interest.
