RGIPT is the abbreviated form of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology. This is an institute of national importance and is at par with the IITs and NITs. The institute was set up by the government of India to address the growing need of human resource in the petroleum and energy sector. Work on the Bangalore campus of the institute is in progress which will solely focus on research and education in this sector.
