Fees payable to all the IIITs include institute fees, transport fees, hostel and mess fees that are to be paid subsequently semester wise. There are also fees such as, caution money and one time deposits that are refundable by the end of the programmes. The fees other than caution deposit, one-time deposit, and those other refundable fees are to be paid every semester. The pattern of the semester-wise break-up of the fee structure in the IIITs is uniform.

Candidates belonging to SC/ST category are exempted from paying tuition fees in most of the institutes. Some of the institutes have also reduced the institute fees for students belonging to these categories.

JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) will allot the seats to the all the IIITs considering certain factors such as category (Gen, OBC, SC, ST, and PD) of the candidate, candidate’s position in the rank list, availability of the programmes opted by the candidate and also the availability of seats in each of the categories.
