So what I would suggest you to apply for multiple colleges at a time and don't settle with any one of them for now. Now as you have mentioned that you want to do engineering in Jawaharlal Nehru technological university, you can get into that as your rank is pretty good. However, you need to remember and have to do certain things which are as follows.

Look every year most of the colleges have three to four round of counseling, now you have to see the number of applicants this college call for the first round of counseling. From there you can get an idea of your chances into that university. This   you can check on college official website. Thus it will help you to know whether you can a choice of your branch or not.
