Music has always resided in India as it's sosoul and today there are best music schools in India where one can pursue a career in music. Some of them are that are in South India:

1. KMMC (K.M. Music Conservatory) , Chennai established by renowned music artist A.R. Rehman.
2. Madaras Music Academy, Chennai
3. Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music, Tamil Nadu

But unfortunately these does not provide residential facilities to students as per my knowledge. I hope this will be helpful.
