Hello Ram,

First of all, I would like to clarify that both the ranks have their own different meanings. General rank denotes that at what position you are in all the candidates irrespective of the cast while category rank means the rank you got in all the students belonging to that particular category who gave the exam.


Now, that you understand how this works. If you have registered as a particular category student than the rank which you secured in that category is more important in the counselling otherwise your general rank is considered only.
