Counseling occurs through both all India rank and Category rank, It depends on you through which rank you want to get your preferred seat. But, it will be always be a benefit for you to go with your category rank as it always have reserved seats and have chances of getting a preferred seat in the preferred college. Dear Aspirant, there are two types of reservation category. The first is vertical reservation, in this 50% of the seats are specially reserved for UP domicile candidates. Amongst this 27% is reserved for OBC, 2% for ST and 21% for SC. Another one is Horizontal reservation which accounts for sub categories such as freedom fighter, up girl category, disabled etc. During counseling, category rank is preferred as per the college criteria and fee waiver seats are given to people having high score. So category rank plays a vital role in getting a college.

It depends. if you are from any reserved category  and you dont opt for tution fee waiver(tfw) then it will be on the basis of category rank but if you opt for tution fee waiver or you are not from reserved category(OBC/SC/ST etc) then your all india rank will be considered.
