US universities give a lot of weightage to the extra curriculars. I'm an Indian student, studying in India itself (high school junior) but I've always wanted to get into an elite US college. What extra curriculars should I look for to boost my college resume? Do they consider community service ?

Hi aspirant,

It is really good to dream about studying abroad.

Yes it is true that the education system in the foreign gives importance to extracurricular activities but they also consider one's graduation score. So don't indulge yourself only in other activities and not care about your studies.

Now the extra curricular activities that you can pick are like learning a new language or better yet get a certificate in the said language,  playing a musical instrument,   picking up a new sport to play,   writing blogs,   doing internships in reputed companies. These things will surely help. Community service may not serve as a main factor for admission.

Good luck!
