In some universities you can get admission directly without any entrance exams 

Where as if you want to take admission in universities such as christ university, Banglore,  University of Delhi, etc. Than in this case you have to appear for entrance exams.

Few universities takes admission in M.Sc. Mathematics courses through merit basis as well as through entrance test, like Delhi University reserves 50% of its seats for merit basis admissions.
