Dear Manish, Under All India Quota, All the 15% of All India Quota Seats except for Jammu and Kashmir, 100% Seats at Deemed and Central Universities, IP Quota seats in ESIC Colleges, Seats at AFMC are filled by DGHS. For example, if you belong to Gujarat, you can participate in the counselling for 15% seats of Government Colleges if other States except for Jammu and Kashmir.

The 85% State Quota and Private Colleges are filled by the respective State Authorities. And there are 3 Categories in Private Medical Colleges. Category A is the Government Quota Seats. And only candidates of the home State are eligible to apply for these seats. B Category seats are also called Management Quota Seats and they are filled through Direct Admissions by contacting the College directly. Here the fees is usually nothing less than 40 lakhs. The last Category is NRI seats Category and you cannot apply for that. Again for example, if you belong to Gujarat, you are eligible for 785% State Quota of Gujarat MBBS seats.

The 15% all India quota is a number of reserved seats which students with more scores can access even if they belong to a different state.

The 85% state quota is reserved in all medical colleges of a state and is exclusively for candidates of the particular state. The seats are allotted through state counseling.

550+ will be a good score to get a medical college in Gujarat. However, scores can vary with the level of question paper and competition.
