The All India Council for Technical Education AICTE, is the statutory body and a National level council for technical education, under Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, it was setup in 1945 And AICTE is responsible for proper planning and co-ordinated development of the technical education and management education system in India.

It covers programmes of technical education including training and research in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Town Planning, Management, Pharmacy, Applied Arts and Crafts, Hotel Management and Catering Technology etc. at different levels.

And it is set up to Monitor all the aspects of technical education in India.
