It involves treating and managing diseases of the nervous system such as strokes, seizures, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and so on, with drugs and other non-surgical approaches. Neurologists can be involved in research, but it is commonly of a clinical nature, such as running clinical trials.

Neurobiology is the branch of basic science dealing with the structure and function of the nervous system. Lot of cell biology, histology, animal model work and so on.
