Bio Technology has limited opportunities particularly in India. Even though NIT Durgapur is one of the top engineering colleges in India, placement scenario of Bio Tech department is not up to the mark. No core bio tech company visited the campus in the academic year 2019-20 for placements. Most of the students went for non core (software and analytics)companies like capegemini, infosys etc. A lot of non core companies didn't even open for Bio tech. Most of the students have opted for higher studies in the IIT's and foreign universities.

The placement scene is not upto the mark for biotechnology batch as its average though it depends upon your passion and interest in those academic years.

If you gain enough knowledge and skill then you can get placed with a decent package.
