Both services are extremely important for the growth and development of the nation. To compare the two or say one is better than the other would be very wrong as one works being in the nation while the other works being away from the nation. Your choice should onlycome from what drives you and what you seek from life, if you want to work in different counteries abroad and make significant contribution the international relations of the nation then go for ifs, if you want to stay in india and then work for the issues pertaining to the current problems in the country fo for IAS , let me tell you one thing both the jobs are equally presitigious and important , the thing is they cannnot be compared both have different roles to play as mentioned above, i would suggest you to take sometime , compare their roles , go through profiles of present ifs/ias officers and decide.

Also as how many services are there in cse and details are mentioned below in the official pdf below

Hi Nithish,

Civil services are just like a backbone of the government sectors. The UPSC conducts a number of exams from which cse is the most popular and prestigious as it provides a number of prestigious facilities but much responsibilities as well.

Generally the upsc cse exam gives entry into 3 categories of jobs as-

1.All India civil services

2.Group A services -central services

3.Group B services -state services

Now,under 1st category jobs following posts are offered as-

1. IAS

2. IFS

3. IPS

#under 2nd category jobs-

1.Indian P&T accounts& finances services

2.Indian Audit and accounts services

3.Indian revenue services

4.Indian defence account services

5.Indian ordinance services

6.Indian postal services

7.Indian civil account services

8.Indian railway account services

9.Indian railway personnel services

10.Indian railway security services

11.Indian defence estate services

12.Indian information services

13.Indian trade services

14.Indian corporate law services

#under 3rd category jobs-

1.Armed forces head quarter services

2.Civil services for union territories (4 forms)

So, according to me all these services are good and provides alot of prestigious facilities and opportunities but one has to be responsible too towards them.

Perks privided:-

house,lights,sevents,medical facilities,gaurds,cars (in some),all offered profits,good salary,secured job.

Now, it totally depends upon your intrest to go for which post and also upon your upsc cse exam results.

Good luck.
