For admission in MBBS colleges through the 85% state quota both your All India rank and your category rank is important. However with your category rank it's easier for you to get Admission in MBBS colleges since the cutoff is lower.

General category students have to score a much higher rank as compared to category rank students like SC/ST/OBC etc. So if you have a category rank the chances for you to get government medical colleges becomes easier in counselling.
