Hello Aspirant, 

See the need for any laptop is to be felt personally by the candidate as one can even complete the time course of Engineering without a laptop as enough resources are provided in the college and hostel with net equipped labs and some friends can also help you with that. If you are interested in programming or web development or want to learn such courses at the earliest, you can use the hostel labs for the purpose but if it is out of your comfort zone, then there is a need for one. But yes, it is true that personal laptop helps a lot better than other facilities for self growth.
