Daily 3 hours of class and one practical, is what that makes our day here. The teaching methodology and the faculties are quite good. According to me, my experience of college life is full of joy and fun.The college infrastructure is also very well built. Affordability to my college is not so bad and the college too provides the brilliant and reservation students, scholarships, which could help them in many ways. The placement scenario is also increasing day by day here.

Here, at NIT Srinagar we are experiencing heaven on the earth .It is one of the most beautiful campus of India leaving other NIT. The infrastructure of College is very good, the placement of the college is excellent. Here, you have opportunities to develop your personality in different fields. In the terms of facilities, there are so many games in the campus as Cricket, Table tennis, Badminton, chess, Volleyball, Basketball etc.Mess facility is also satisfactory. In the campus, there are separate hostels for every year student of B. Tech

Overall, college is good. You can learn to be self-dependent here. Scenic beauty is awesome. You will definitely enjoy the weather and tourist places around the valley. However, you have to learn on your own. Faculty members are okay. Placements are fine. Rest is all okay.

The college has an average infrastructure as it is quite an old college without any much maintenance done. Some faculties are quite good and helpful but not all. The labs are quite old but still they are ok. There is no industrial exposure due to its location. The placements are average. If you are joining NIT Srinagar please do not have high expectations.

Initially, I had to be the best of the most of my life for being part of this college. National Institute of Technology Srinagar is more beautiful than any other campus and infrastructure is acceptable as well. National Institute of Technology Srinagar offers various courses both in bachelor's and masters and post-doctoral as well. It has developed numerous scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, businessman, photographers, journalists, writers and others. So I would not hesitate to say National Institute of Technology Srinagar is not only about engineering but it provides exposure to lots of fields in which you are good and-and you can proper ahead. I had a great life here so far. I developed some intellect in me and came to know about a lot of new things of which I was unaware before.

We don't genuinely realise the advantages of colleges like NITs or IITs until we get selected into one. The resources, the exposure, the environment; it's amazing. This is one of the oldest RECs that was promoted to the status of NIT in 2002, and rightfully so. The campus is beautiful, mostly because of the location. The dal in its background and Zabarwan towering above the lake. It is mesmerising. The gardens can be seen flocked by students as a place to exchange ideas under the shade of chinars. The infrastructure is good for decent studies. The staff is nice as well. The best thing about such colleges is the hostel life. The city might be asleep but the college is always awake. Be it the late night gaming or discussing ideas, it is all worth it. The canteen is another of my favourite places at the campus. Then there is the playground and sports, and the college is well equipped. I, however, feel that there should've been a swimming pool. There are some cons too, such as the auditorium building construction have been delayed for more than 30 years due to proximity to dal lake (green belt area). The campus needs to grow more. There must be facilities for other sports such as tennis, squash, etc.

The college is one of the pioneers of technology in the country and thus holds a place of importance in the technological growth of the state. The faculty is excellent except a selected few. The college hosts basic infrastructure for all round development of students. Though cultural activities are less common. Hostels and mess are relatively good.

The X factor of this college is the location. Located on the banks of dal lake just adds to its beautiful campus. It is ranked 20 among all NITS. But according to me, it should be around 10-15. The infrastructure is very good. The institute is well equipped with the latest machinery. The hostel accommodation facility is also very good. The faculty is especially skilled. The placement status is very good. In 2014, a student got a package of 72 lakhs per annum. That says it all.

Being in National Institute of technology, Srinagar has brought drastic changes in my life. From amazing hostel life with wonderful friends to outstanding teaching, it is everything I ever dreamed of. With extra curriculum activities, our vision and exposure to the outer world have grown to a tremendous level. The faculty members always encourage us to do more in our studies.

As a first year student, i was a bit skeptical about the atmosphere of the college just like any other batch mate. But it took me just 2 days to get in full swing in the college mainly cool weather in summers be the reason. Coming to campus, it is not that big as depicted in movies college or some lavish private college. Ours is a reputed one.Still the campus is big enough to keep you sated. The timing of the classes is also good.Though the faculty is considered one of the most experienced nationwide but we still felt little turbulence in our first semester especially in mathematics. One of the main virtues of our college is the weather. It is cool throughout summer and the best part comes in winter when cold starts gripping the students. Unlike other colleges of India where holidays are distributed throughout the year, we are given 3 months vacations in winter compensating annual holidays. This personally proved very beneficial for me as I completed two courses one of c language and other of c++ in these holidays. You wouldn't get that much time for extra effort in the majority of the colleges in India. Overall studying in our college is a life changer.

The best of my times at NIT Srinagar

Refral code DM6ZEB Just like all other students aspiring to become NITians and afterwards wondering how the college would be, I had small dreams and assumptions filled in my mind about how it was going to come out. Ofcourse it didn't turn out anything like that but some things were great and some dull about this college as far as my experiences go. some people might wonder then why did I write the title in positive. Well, I have my reasons. This place is the most wonderful place I have been to so far in these 20 years. This college has also a beautiful campus which provides a source of refreshment for us exhausted engineers. Moreover what else can one say when the college is situated on the paradise of earth that too on the banks of the great Dal? The infrastructure is bearable as the buildings date back to 70's and the first year students have to spend most of their time in attics which become unbearable in summers. And for the lecturers, they teach well if we talk of the permanent faculty but most of the Freshers are left to contractuals which are poor at their work. Then in higher semesters HODs and permanent faculty take care of main stream subjects and the easy ones are still left to the contractuals some of whom are good and some are really bad.Students have to take care of their studies themselves as the professors are busy completing the syllabus and most of the times one chapter is completed in a single lecture (shocking huh??)but we being engineers are so much used to these things now that it doesn't affect us . We now don't even frown if we get 2/20 and sideline it with a laugh. So far these things have taught me to face the problems of my life and so does every engineering college as someone put it rightly that an engineering college may or may not teach you how to solve engineering problems but it surely teaches you how to face and solve life problems. I have gained a lot after coming to this college, friends, memories, wonderful experiences, professors(moody though) and I feel so much blessed to be a part of this not so perfect place. Hostel life is great too as far as I have heard( me being a day scholar). There is gym, free wifi, dj parties, and a lot more. Moreover there are seminars, workshops, clubs you can join, sports, tech fests, fresher parties and convocations held every year. In short just like any other college this place has its own shortcomings and benefits but as far as my experience goes so far, I've enjoyed this place a lot.

The infrastructure of the college not be that developed but in terms of faculty it is top class. The presence of Dal lake at the back boundary of the college provides the best atmosphere you can have. What else I can say after all it is an NIT and everyone knows about the level of the NITs in India.

As a student of NIT SRINAGAR, college is very good. Campus and Infrastructure: NIT Srinagar boasts of pretty good infrastructure; decent hostels and very well equipped labs. A Central library has a collection of about 68,000 books of Engineering, Science, Humanities and about 6,000 bound volumes of journals, both foreign and Indian. The library has an ever-improving collection of CD's and video-cassettes on engineering, science & technology. The library has a separate collection for SC/ST students having 10,000 books. Books are issued for a full semester to SC/ST students. There is free online access to ASCE, ASME, ASPT, IEL, JCCC etc. journals through INDEST Consortium and has a complete collection of ISI codes in CD Room format. The library is connected to IGNOU Educational programmes. This centre, which is in addition to the departmental computer centres, is open till late in the night. Separate hostels for the boys and girls with separate mess facility are present. All the hostels are well maintained and are equipped with all necessary facilities, keeping in mind the climate of Kashmir. Jehlum hostel has been covered under the institute networking project, the work is going on and it is expected that each room will get the net facility. In addition to this, other hostels are given a cyber cafe each. They have an excellent two-story Medical Unit with 24 hours medical facility on campus, with a full-time doctor and other paramedical staff. Medical lab facilities such as ECG, X-Ray etc are available on campus itself. They have an excellent infrastructure in place for both indoor as well as outdoor games, with a Common Hall, and Activity Centre, and a number of fields for different sports. Faculty: NIT, Srinagar has a very dedicated and competent faculty in all disciplines. The institute boasts of numerous professors who are highly experienced, having experience of more than 20 years or so. They are also actively involved in research work. Crowd: The boy/girl ratio is about 1:7. The institute has students coming from all over the country. To be very frank, life here is awesome. The weather is fine throughout the year. Previously, NIT Srinagar was rather notorious for ragging, but due to laws passed regarding ragging and strict rules imposed by the institute, ragging isn’t really an issue. Canteen/Mess: The food in the mess is, well, just about okay. There are 3 canteens and 1 cafeteria in the campus which provide a variety of food. As Srinagar is a tourist hub there are lots of places to hang out, notably Dal gate , Hazratbal shrine, Nigeen lake etc.

The knowledge is beautified in the same way as compared to the beauty of Srinagar. Placement is top class for IT CS EEE departments with average package of 4.8 lakes. Teachers put great impact on your mind with brilliant display of knowledge. Campus is awesome. You also don't have to worry about the border disputes as the surrounding is under tight security.

More than 50 years old campus with many alumni at the top levels. Industrial exposure is comparatively lesser cause of the geographical location which is now changing with the time. With the students coming from Andhra to Assam has been adding diversity and new minds ever since its inception. Faculty is one of the best among NITs and for Electrical Engineering it is at par with top IITs. There is an inconsistency in placements, but for CS and Mech. many top companies come to recruit. Hostels are newly constructed, but still got some air conditioning issues during winters, but engineers somehow manage. College live is unlike that you experience in metro cities, hardly one or two malls, no movie theatre, but there are different things there. You would see yourself get lost in mere beauty of it. Location of college is very nice. Safer than the metro cities and even safer for girls. People are different but very respectful and always offer good hospitality.

Within the extremely beautiful and calm panoramic view of the Himalayan mountains and the cool Dal Lake, the college is situated in the summer capital of J&K i.e. Srinagar. The college is an institute of national importance, providing undergraduate and postgraduate courses in engineering. The famous mechanical department is highly renowned. As such the life within the college is quite peaceful without any problems from outside.

Nice place

Nidhi Sharma
Posted on 19 Jun' 15 by Nidhi Sharma
"The infrastructure is fine upto some extent. We have furnished labs with pretty well equipments. There are Hi Tech Classrooms for seminars but regular classrooms need to renovated. Placements are going on a good rate, but most of the companies that come for recruitment are IT based companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, L&T, Mu Sigma, Polaris, etc and from the core Magneti Marelli (ECE), Maruti (ME) are the ones that came for this batch. Canteen is good, as this place is not for veg food so the vegis will miss the home made food. and for girls there is no facility of night canteen till late so either u need to have the tasteless mess dinner or to cook yourself. During the day you can manage somehow. Of-course the vegetarians will face some problems. Library is nice and reading hall too. we have a huge collection of books related to all engineering disciplines. average sports facilities. Faculty is also average, we have got few senior teachers who are sound in their subjects. So the place is awesome for trips you can go and enjoy on weekends with your friends and have quality life (except food) "
