What is Automotive Engineering?

Automotive engineering is a branch of engineering. The discipline deals with designing, manufacturing, developing and testing the vehicles right from thought to production.   • Students should have completed their 10th and 12th from a recognised board and institution.

  • They should have obtained a minimum of 50% at the 10+2 level.

  • Only students who have had a background in science can apply.

  • Entrance is largely based on the entrance examinations. Colleges usually ask for the JEE scores.

  • A personal interview round could also take place.

  • Students should have completed their Bachelor’s in Engineering with a minimum of 50%.

  • Entrance examinations like GATE determine your admission.

Entrance Examinations for Automotive Engineering 

Getting into a good college requires dedication and determination. The aspirants would have to prepare for the all India engineering entrance examinations. Here are some of the entrance exams for automotive engineering that you should prepare for.

JEE Main- It is a national level entrance exam conducted for selecting students into the Engineering course. It is one of the most competitive exams conducted in India. Students with high scores in this exam get admitted to the most prestigious engineering colleges in the country. 

JEE Advanced- This is the second level of JEE. After clearing the mains, students have to appear for the JEE Advanced. This ensures fair screening of students into the programme.

GATE- GATE is an all India Entrance exam conducted jointly by IISc and the IIT’s. The scores in GATE determine your admission into the Master’s programme into the top colleges for Engineering.

BITSAT- It is an entrance examination conducted by Birla Institute of Technology and Science. The exam is part of the admission process for the undergraduate programme.

KCET- Karnataka Common Entrance Test is conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority. It is a state-level entrance exam.

MIT college rules are a little more strict when compared to other ones so distractions can be reduced to a considerable level. College timing is also upto around 4:30 PM from 8:30 AM. Lab facilities & other infrastructures are enough offered by the college.

As per your rank, the colleges you will get admission in VIT Vellore with mechanical engineering.

For mechanical engineering with Automobile specialisation previous year the closing rank is 12400. So, it is somewhat difficult to get this branch with specialization. But you have great chance that you will get mechanical engineering in VIT Vellore.
