I am a student of bsc botany in 2nd year...but this year I have selected in bsc agriculture through Icar exam in vasanta rao krishi vidyalaya, maharastra.. please suggest me, may I go for bsc agriculture for 4 year this time or continue the remaining year in bsc botany..

Priyanka 1st Dec, 2021
Hai, don't get confused see both bsc botany and bsc agriculture are a important fields of science having vast opportunity in career wise. As you already in your second year after one year you will get it's bachelor degree so i will suggest you to carry your bsc botany degree as bsc agriculture has 4 years course you have to spend another years for this. In case of bsc botany u will also get admit in Msc botany section. Instead of choosing bsc agriculture
If you have interest in agriculture you can crack net after msc,go for research in that topic which combined both agriculture and botany field to gether

Hello ,i am in last year of my graduation in general bsc in which i had botany, zoology and chemistry as core subjects. As i have plans to do msc, i am very confused in which subject i should do my msc as the scope job and career opportunities? please help.

Priyanka 24th Nov, 2021
Hey I hope you are doing good. Its all depend on your interest. As zoology, botany and chemistry are the main branches and have equal scope. I will  suggest you to go in that field in which your concepts are much clear so that you will be able to crack NET easily. As if you are not strong in that subject in which you take admission then most time of  ist year is consuming in clearing the small small concepts, if you take that subject where you have good command it also increase your self confidence and you will be able to perform good. As  zoology, chemistry, botany has itself very vast opportunities individually. So take time think deeply and then decide this.

Ive scored 96% PCB+IT+Eng this year from Delhi. Im interested in pursuing PhD in Biological Sc (Zoo/Botany) which Im yet to finalize. Which BSc in DU will allow a wider choice of selection of my preferred MSc later? Does BSc MicroBio/Life Sc./Biological Sc restrict my options later in MSc?

Subhalaxmi Biswal 2nd Jan, 2022

Hello Aspirant,

If you are interested in doing a Ph.D. in biological science I.e., Zoology or botany then I would recommend that you should first finalize in which topic or domain you want to do it. For example, there are various subjects like general zoology, marine zoology, genetics, evolution, plant physiology or anatomy, biotech, microbiology, biochemistry, etc.

As you can see biotech, microbiology is nothing but domains of botany and zoology. Biotech deals DNA manipulation of microorganisms. Microbiology extensively deals with microorganisms.

So taking up these subjects won't have any effect on your master's degree dreams.

B.Sc ( Life Sciences) syllabus includes largely botany, zoology, and chemistry subjects.

If you want to have broad knowledge about zoology and botany you can opt for one of these courses but if you want to opt for specific domains of zoology or botany you can opt for either biotech or microbiology.

I hope this helps.

Thank you

I am currently in 2nd year of bsc with subjects botany zoology and chemistry. In 3rd year i will have to drop one subject. I cant choose what to drop between botany and chemistry.I find both of them equally boring and hard.can somebody tell me career oppurtunities if i choose one of them with zoo.

Subhrajit Mukherjee 12th Nov, 2021

Frankly speaking, chemistry is a vastly boring subject but its a useful one compared to that of Botany. So try to keep chemistry in your 3rd year as it can influence your field of study further to Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Genomic Science etc. So keep the chemistry in your curriculum. The above three fields are the hot topics of biology world and if you can do a MSc in any of it then you have a very prestigious career ahead.
