Hello aspirant,
- I hope you're doing well, as for your query yes you can get a data scientist's job.
- Companies prefer core B. Tech Data Science as core field, there's a great demand for data scientists and it has really great scope.
- Let's say if your institution doesn't provide core data science course, here you must build your skills over statistical operations, data analysis via online course provided by many online teaching platforms or youtube.
- Next, apply for internships by visiting companies websites, or internship portals, this way you're going to know what you will be doing as a data scientist.
- Plus with the internship you will have an experience with this field, and don't stop with just one internship get them all as much as you can.
- The more experience you will have, the better reputed job you will get.
Keep grinding.
Have a nice day
Read the information below -
Data science is an interdisciplinary field that uses scientific methods, processes, algorithms and systems to extract knowledge and insights from noisy, structured and unstructured data, and apply knowledge and actionable insights from data across a broad range of application domains.
Computer science is the best branch you should go for data scientist career. On other hand, you can go with Information Technology.
For being a data scientist, you have to do master's degree and preferebly a doctorate degree.
It's also that, people with degrees in physics, math, statistics and engineering also prefer studying data science courses.
Students of cs field have subjects of ml, python, and other from college itself. They have good practice over coding and become professionals with time.
You can make such projects from college period that will help you get a data scientist role.
Dear Sriya,
Data science is among the trending jobs in the world of technology these days. Data Scientist jobs are now found across several sectors of business, including high-end R&D, retail, manufacturing and sales etc. A Data Scientist possesses the capabilities and skill sets to collect, use, analyse and synthesize large amounts of data into actionable suggestions and implementations for business or research use.
For becoming Data Scientist, it is very crucial that you have a solid base of programming and statistical skills. Knowledge in Linear Algebra, Data Visualization, and Calculus is a must. For this, you can go for a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science(Bsc. CS), BSc IT, Bsc. Maths, Bsc. Physics, or any other related field. A Master’s Degree in the related field is a big bonus.

Hi Vedant!
Since, top universities are expected to close their registration in November or December, it is preferred to attend GRE by the end of June, so that your result is available before your application in the universities. Do keep your official documents ready like VISA to avoid any hassle at the last moment.
Thank you, I hope the confusion in cleared.
Hi Prasanth,
It depends on which course you want to do ,even then its possible. There are many online courses which doesn't demand any specific eligibility or qualification or else Since you have already done MSc physics go for MBA in data science. Its eligibility is graduate in any discipline with 50% and you have to clear CAT or any other entrance exam depending on the institute or college you want to get into.

All the best.
See just after BSc Physics you will not get a job in Data Science but if you go for MSc in Astronomy or MSc in Data Science course then you can go for it. Most of the people who work in the field of Astronomy and Astrophysics usually get the most exposure towards data science and data analysis. So you can pursue this in order to have a good career ahead.

To become a data scientist, there are various steps, mentioned below :-
1. Complete 10+2 - Students are expected to complete the 10 + 2 successfully by obtaining at least 50 per cent marks from any recognized boards of India in the science stream consisting of physics, chemistry, and mathematics, computer science as compulsory subjects. They also need to study economics and statistics to get a better and clearer understanding of the course.
2. Entrance Examination - Many institutes and colleges undertake admissions examinations. The admissions are received mostly on the basis of the candidates' results in the entrance test. There are also other universities that offer admissions on a merit basis i.e. 10+2 passing marks. The selection criteria may differ in terms of marks and the enrollment procedure from university to university. Popular examinations are :- JEE Mains, JEE Advanced, VITEEE, BITSAT, SRMJEE, etc.
3. Pursuing Bachelor's Degree- You could earn a Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Social sciences, Physical sciences, and Mathematics and Statistics. The most common fields of study are Mathematics and Statistics (32%), followed by Computer Science (19%) and Engineering (16%). A degree in any of these courses will help you with the skills you need to process and analyze big data. Popular degrees are B.Tech., B.Stat. and B.Sc. etc.
4. Post-Bachelor - After completing a bachelor's degree programme, students have many choices to uplift their future careers. Here, you have 2 options :-
Option 1: Having a master's degree skills in data science, you can apply them to a wide range of tech-related career opportunities like data engineering, architectural design, or computer technology. After completion of a bachelor’s degree, students can directly opt for a master's degree in a related field like computer science, information engineering or cybersecurity will prepare you for a data science profession. Data scientists are holding more Ph.D.s than any other profession. Popular masters degree are MTech, MbA, etc.
Option 2: Students can began their work in an entry-level role in the business after their bachelor's degree programme. And then can apply for a master's degree such as MBA or M.Tech. after achieving an experience of some years.
Happy Learning!
