There are several ways to join ISRO as a scientist besides JEE Mains or Advanced. You will need to study hard and gain the necessary information to be as productive as an IITian. To join ISRO as an engineering graduate, you must pass the admission test held by ISRO. ICRB (centralised Recruitment Board) conducts the test, and the GATE exam is also used for recruitment.

In order to be eligible for PhD, the minimum GATE cutoff score is 500 for general category, 450 for OBC/ EWS category and 350 for SC/ST/PD category candidates. Candidates with JEST scores must have obtained at least 300 marks.

For be eligible for IIST, you need to qualify JEE Main and sit for JEE Advance. They don't have an entrance exam of their own. The shortlisting is done on the basis of JEE Advanced score. The cutoffs keep changing according to the no. of students and their performance. Analyzing previous year data, you may qualify with 10% of total marks in JEE Advanced and you must have a minimum of 2.5% in PCM each.

You can join IIEST Shibpur for M.Sc. in Mathematics by giving IIT JAM exam. Gate exam is for students who want to pursue M.tech in IIT and NITs. But for Science subjects you can join IIT and NIT through IIT JAM exam. Hope it is helpful.
